Locs update

Wednesday, September 29, 2010
I know I said I won't post pics of my locs anymore but I'm weird and I have no idea why I said that. Besides I won't be posting any videos on youtube anytime soon so what the heck. Also, I remember when I first started my loc journey, I would get frustrated when someone who has my same hair texture would stop posting pics leaving me out in the cold. I know it's not that serious but I feel like it's a duty at this point, especially since people asks "So how's the hair going?" Well to answer that question, it's fine thank you. And I mean fiiine. Ok let me stop. Here's the locs at 14 months

 Showing off my knitting skills...

So there you have it! 14 months!

Btw the curls happened when I took down the updo...

Sketches in progress

I feel so shameful for not updating my blog for so long. I tired to be slick by posting pictures to cover up my absence. What happened was... well life happened and my computer died again so I don't have a chance to write. Lucky for me I have a fabulous roommate who's letting me use hers until I can buy a new one. Anyhow, I will keep this short but I wanted to show you what I've been working on. You'll be glad to hear that I've been productive by reading "Anatomy for Artists" and "Drawing Comics the Marvel Way" in order to develop a distinct style of my own. Well also because one of my mentors suggested that I take a look at them.
Back to the topic

The first picture is a self-portrait that I drew 3 years ago and decided to do a rendition on canvas. It looks more not my mom when she was younger which I found interesting.

I know the 2nd one is different than the 1st so let's call it an experimentation for now...

Also, I was looking though a notebook of mine that I keep at work and noticed that I tend to doodle A LOT.  The picture below is one of my doodles that I wanted to uplift. It's looking a little flat now but I'm hoping I can bring it to life once I figure out what I was thinking about...

This last piece means a lot to me at this moment. I'll go into more details and spill out my heart and feelings once I splash colors on it. I don't have any names for any of them yet but I guess I'll know what to call them once they're "completed".

For those who've been following me for a while know my struggles, doubts, frustrations, etc that I battle with in regards to opening up and sharing my art. So free feel to tell me what you think of these pieces so far. I'll appreciate it a lot

Thanks and stay inspired...

Quote

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

An Atheist Professor of Philosophy was speaking to his Class on the problem Science has with God, the Almighty. He asked one of his new Christian students to stand.

Professor: You are a Christian, aren't you, son?
Student: Yes, sir.
Professor: So, you believe in God?
Student: Absolutely, sir.
Professor: Is God good?
Student: Sure.
Professor: My brother died of cancer, even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn't. How is God good, then? Hmm?
(Student was silent)
Professor: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?
Student: Yes.
Professor: Is Satan good?
Student: No.
Professor: Where does Satan come from?
Student: From.. God.
Professor: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student: Yes.
Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything. Correct?
 Student: Yes.
Professor: So who created evil?
(Student didn't answer)
Professor: Is there sickness? Immortality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don't they?
Student: Yes, sir.
Professor: So, who created them?
(Student had no answer)
Professor: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son.. have you ever seen God?
Student: No, sir.
Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your God.
Student: No, sir.
Professor: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God, for that matter?
Student: No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.
Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student: Yes.
Professor: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, Science says your God doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student: Nothing. I only have my Faith.
Professor: Yes, Faith. And that is the problem Science has.
Student: Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?
Professor: Yes.
Student: And is there such a thing as Cold?
Professor: Yes.
Student: No, sir, there isn't.
(The Lecture Theatre became very quiet with this turn of events)
Student: Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don't have anything called cold. We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of Heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.
(There was a pin-drop silence in the Lecture Theatre)
Student: What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?
Student: You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have Low Light, Normal Light, Bright Light, Flashing Light... But if you have No Light constantly, you have nothing and it's called Darkness, isn't it? In reality, darkness isn't. If it is, You would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?
Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man?
Student: Sir, my point is, your Philosophical Premise is flawed.
Professor: Flawed? Can you explain how?
Student: Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality. You argue there is Life and then there is Death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Professor: If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process, yes of course, I do.
Student: Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going)
Student: Since no one has ever observed the Process of Evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a Scientist but a Preacher?
(The class was in uproar)
Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain?
(The class broke out into laughter)
Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? .. No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable and Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures?
(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable)
Professor: I guess you'll have to take them on Faith, son.
Student: That is it, sir.. exactly! The link between man and God is Faith. That is all that keeps things alive and moving!
That student was Albert Einstein.

"Said the Shotgun to the Head"

Thursday, September 9, 2010
"Have you ever lost yourself in a kiss?
I mean pure psychedelic inebriation.
Not just lustful petting but transcendental metamorphosis when you became aware that the greatness of this being was breathing into you.
Licking the sides and corners of your mouth, like sealing a thousand fleshy envelopes filled with the essence of your passionate being and then opened by the same mouth and delivered back to you, over and over again - the first kiss of the rest of your life.
A kiss that confirms that the universe is aligned, that the world's greatest resource is love, and maybe even that God is a woman.
With or without a belief in God, all kisses are metaphors decipherable by allocations of time, circumstance, and understanding"

"Love you Down"

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

This song is serious.

It instills graphic images in my mind
It definitely helps me understand the difference between "to love" and "to be in love"

This is what crazy in love means...

And I'm in love with this song

Me'shell Ndegeocello is beast.

Day by day, my love for her is growing.

mmmm mmmmmmm. I see you.

Let me find out what he's smoking. You see the look on his face? Either he's doing a Tyra Bank pose or stoned as hell.

Some might say this photo is graphic, I say it's art

I've got news for you...

Hello mi familia de bloggers! You know how I was telling y'all that I am busy looking for space aka apartamento? Well I'm here today to say that I finally moved into an apartment, I found myself an artist mentor, and my computer revived itself.

throws e-confetti

This means I will be painting again. I already have two gigs lined up which I will be working on soon. I also been invited to be a featured blogger/writer for an up and coming website. I'm not sure if I'll have the time to do all of these amazing things because I like socializing and seeing people, so I don't want to sit in front of a computer for the majority of my days...so I don't know about that. However, I will be blogging more often and will create a tumblr account for more exposure in the near future. I shouldn't be so quick to say I'm making a 'comeback' since I'm still looking for a new job, and most importantly, my computer might flatline again. That's my baby and all but I don't trust her e-butt. Anyhoo, everything seems to be falling into place. All I had to do was change my mindset, trust myself, be patient, and listen.
Sounds cheesy but it works. It also helps to be around people who believes in you and your goals.

Well that's it for today

Remain inspired!

oooh la la la. It's the way that we rock when we're doing our thing
